Align Processes: As with all businesses, processes take on a life of their own.  There are many reasons for this, but as time passes, what was supposed to be a temporary work-around turns into a permanent process.  Staff transitions occur and the new person is taught the "way it is done", never knowing that it was supposed to be temporary.

An independent review of the current processes can bring these inefficiencies to light and can alleviate bottlenecks that can be caused by them.  Working first with management to learn the business goals and obtain their buy-in to the need for review, we then work with the staff to learn and observe how processes are performed.  These processes will be mapped and disconnects to objectives will be highlighted. 
 
As processes are documented and mapped, we will look closely at the work performed looking for inconsistencies and duplicate efforts.  Often, some functions contain elements of another function and these can be combined, eliminating the need for double effort.  With the leaning of businesses today to lower costs, it is inevitable that the remaining staff will expend time and energy in some efforts that could be removed to another area, or eliminated totally. 
Reducing excess work will make the individuals more productive by freeing time for other activities and will also serve to reduce stress and anxiety.
 
As mentioned above, eliminating waste in processes and efforts, will reduce costs. The reductions may take many forms: reduced overtime; improved efficiency in warehousing and inventory; reduce carrying costs; reduce rework and waste; reduce customer credits.
No matter what form the savings take, it does mean a reduction in the cost of doing business and potentially can add to your cash flow.
 
Increasing customer satisfaction is a goal of most companies. Increasing satisfaction relates directly to customer loyalty and retention.  There are many ways to ensure an increase in customer satisfaction, the two most prevalent are  having sufficient inventory and making no shipping errors.

What do these two have in common?  Quality.  First, planning your inventory and vendors, second,  shipment inspections. It has been said that if a customer can get the product when they want it and know that they can trust the seller to have inventory, they will continue to return even if the price may be higher than that of a competitor with a reputation of stock-outs and errors.
